Sports

12.6.12

I'm pretty sure I've already mentioned on here how unathletic I am. When I was younger, I played volleyball for a few years {and actually enjoyed it} but that's where my athleticism stopped. That's not to say I don't like watching sports, though, which I actually do {namely soccer and basketball}, though I can't say I'm a diehard fan of any team. So last night, when a close friend invited me to a billiards bar to watch the LA Kings game with her and her boyfriend, I said yes. And though I think it was my first time {ever} watching hockey, it was one fun game to watch! The LA Kings beat the NJ Devils and won the Stanley Cup for the first time in Kings history. Needless to say, the bar {and all of LA} went nuts. We rounded out the night with nachos, margaritas, and a game of pool {more like teaching me how to play.. but I made a few in by the end of the night!}.

So, inspired by my night of watching sports and playing pool, I decided to put together the perfect sports-watching attire, because I did have a bit of internal dialogue going on when staring at my closet, something that went kinda like this..
"I'm pretty sure this place is super casual."
"But it IS a bar, so it can't be too casual."
"But we're talking about a place with pool tables that shows sports on every screen."
"But I still wanna look cute for a night out."
.. or something like that.
But I ended up wearing something that pretty much looked like this

Top: 3.1 Phillip Lim; Jeans: Current/Elliott; Sandals: Steve Madden; Necklace: Mango; Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I literally threw on a basic, loose-fitting black top, dark ripped {but not too ripped} skinnies, flat sandals, my favorite watch, and a long feather necklace to dress it up. And it turned out to be the perfect balance of casual & laidback, yet dressed for a fun night out. What do you think? What would you normally wear to a sports bar?
